Strive to be Strong NOT Skinny

I have always held an interest in fitness and health. My mom was huge on eating healthy even when I was a kid, I actually had no idea what a krimpet was until I was in my late teens, and due to being intolerant to many kinds of foods and having food allergies that I so lovingly grew into when I was in my early 20s, I have kept up with eating clean to this day. I mean do not get me wrong, I do have my cheat days with Reeses, donuts, and nutella (I am a serious lover of chocolate), but I have them in moderation and I do not go overboard when I treat myself.

With the fitness aspect, I was always active when I was younger and in high school, but once I hit college I really did not do much to stay fit. Aka I became skinny fat. I remember after my first year in school I picked up a Jillian Michaels video and nearly fell over and died from the ab portion of the workout. Each day I tried a different workout video and slowly began to get into working out. It took some time, some trial and error and some serious effort before I actually stepped foot in the gym. I pretty much got forced to when I was in grad school by my boyfriend because I was training for a half marathon and he told me it was important to gain strength to help with running. He was 100% correct. With his help and encouragement I actually fell in love with working out and lifting, and still to this day he is my gym buddy who pushes me and keeps me motivated.

I have always had a passion for helping others also. I love the feeling of being able to educate someone, whether it be on nutrition, or an injury, or exercising, and having them feel that a difference was made. It is why I went into the healthcare field! I love how my job incorporates all aspects of what I love; educating, treating/preventing injuries, nutrition and fitness.

With that being said I am also starting something new in my life. I have done quite a few fitness challenges and fell in love with the accountability of the team I was apart of, how I could push myself for 30 days and get some pretty awesome results! Therefore I want to start my own!! I have always wanted to do something like this but was a little nervous to jump into it, but then I read something, “what is life if you aren’t doing things that scare you.” That hit me. Why wasn’t I doing something I wanted to do! I love helping others, I have a passion for helping people achieve their goals and love being an integrated part of their success story. So here goes nothing!!I became apart of the BeachBody Club and am in the works of starting a fitness challenge anyone can join!!
